Web event latency killing journey triggers

The event propagation delay from Segment into the Salesforce CDP connector is hitting a theoretical ceiling where the session state doesn’t update fast enough for the trigger. Thought a quick win would be hitting the API directly to bypass the middleware lag, but it’s not firing the associated action.

Tried a hacky workaround pushing raw events to /api/v2/journey/deployments/{deploymentId}/webevents but getting a 400 Bad Request. Genesys Cloud’s event ingestion seems way more rigid than the NICE architecture I’ve seen for similar web-hooks.

{
 "eventType": "pageView",
 "eventData": {
 "pageUrl": "https://store.example.com/checkout",
 "customerSegment": "high_value"
 },
 "timestamp": "2023-10-27T14:20:00Z"
}

The webevents endpoint expects a specific payload structure to trigger journey events; missing fields or wrong types will result in a silent failure. It’s likely a payload mismatch if the action isn’t firing; the event must map exactly to the definition.

import requests

url = "https://api.mypurecloud.com/api/v2/journey/deployments/{deploymentId}/webevents"
payload = {
 "sessionId": "session-123",
 "eventDefinitionId": "def-456",
 "eventData": {
 "attribute1": "value1",
 "attribute2": "value2"
 }
}
headers = {"Authorization": "Bearer token", "Content-Type": "application/json"}
response = requests.post(url, json=payload, headers=headers)

Check the eventDefinitionId against the deployment config; if that’s off, the trigger won’t see the event. Use the /api/v2/journey/sessions/{sessionId}/events endpoint to verify the event actually landed; that’ll rule out the network layer.

payload is definitely correct, just verified it against the schema. the issue is that the trigger still isn’t picking up the event in real-time despite the direct hit.

The points raised in the earlier reply are correct. It’s also worth verifying the session state via the events endpoint to confirm the event was registered. Apologies if this is a basic suggestion, but we’ve seen similar gaps when the sessionId doesn’t align.

GET /api/v2/journey/sessions/{sessionId}/events
curl -X POST "https://api.mypurecloud.com/api/v2/journey/deployments/{deploymentId}/actionevent" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
 "sessionId": "your-session-id",
 "actionId": "your-action-id",
 "eventType": "ACTION_COMPLETED"
}'

Per the API specification, using the webevents endpoint might not be sufficient to force a state change for specific journey triggers. I would recommend using the actionevent endpoint to update the action state directly.

The earlier reply mentions session state, but the trigger might be failing due to a mismatch in the action status. We’ve seen a similar inconsistency in our environment where the promotion of the event didn’t trigger the next step. It’s possible the API is returning a vague error or just not processing the event.
