Statistic modification in DMA template

Hi All,

I have to modify Main mask for one of the statistics and the statistic is being used in number of reports. My question is Do we need to deactivate the layouts before doing update to Statistic.
Actually I followed below steps.
Export template. Update value of statistics. Import it back with different name. DMA promts, statistics doesn’t match with the existing one.
Differnt options to select like
create new parameter
use the existing one
Update existing parameter with the new value

I selected the update option and after import, all the layouts were showing the updated value.So want to check , do i still need to deactivate and activate the layouts. Is this process of modifying the statistic is correct.

Make changes to layout in the following way:

  • deactivate layouts
  • wait for 5 minutes
  • make changes
  • activate layout

OR make changes to LAYOUT TEMPLATE in the following way:

  • make SINGLE set of changes (single template editing process)
  • wait for 10-15 minutes (will assure multiple layouts to be processed by Data Sourcer).
  • make next change.

Actually when I am importing the new template with correct statistic value, DMA prompts me different options, and after selecting the option of update the statistics, all templates are getting updated with new value which I am looking for.
So I am confused, Do we need to deactivate the layouts before importing this new template.

Yes, because if not there will be hot data being written and you can then damage your tables data. There are Views to be modified when you do this. So, disable, edit and then enable again.

In general, do not recommend to make changes on existing and activated layouts at all.
