I read the 70g_licensing guide but i’m wondering about router_seats license in the case of routing to targets that are not agents but CCD Pilots of our Alcatel Oxe PABX.
I know that each agent targeted by URS deducts one router_seats license.
I also know that if there isn’t any router_seats license in the license.dat, URS won’t start.
The questions are :
Does URS deducts router_seats license in the case he’s routing to targets that are CCD Pilots ?
can we imagine to have only one router_seats licence?
CCD Pilots? Then why use URS?
With Genesys your calls need to go to the RSI objects, RSI can overflow to Pilots but only when something went wrong.
URS then will target to agents, so no way to have only one route_seat license…
What are you trying to do? Use Genesys without URS then easy, let your CCD distribute the incoming/outgoing calls, then let TServer monitor only the places (extension) and agents (CCD agents). With this you can have GAD/your own softphone for CRM integration, etc etc.
Yes, that was before RSI functionality on OXE. I also do that on OXO PBX systems.
What I do not understand maybe is your question.
Does URS deducts router_seats license in the case he's routing to targets that are CCD Pilots ?
Yes, as URS is monitoring agents and will route calls to them (Even with CCD Pilots in the middle)
can we imagine to have only one router_seats licence?
Again, only if you have one Routing Point (RSI or Hunt Group) and no agents. Routing Point will consume one and agents used as target another one more.
From Genesys Licensing Guide:
Universal Routing Server
At startup, URS checks out all available licenses. When a logged-in agent
appears as a valid target for a call for the first time, URS allocates one of the
checked-out licenses to the agent. When the number of logged-in agents that at
least once appeared as valid targets reaches the number of licenses checked
out, URS generates the Licensing Violation message for every new logged-in
agent. An allocated license is freed for URS to reuse when:
• The agent logs out.
• The Person object describing the agent is disabled or deleted in
Configuration Manager.
• URS is restarted.
In the first two cases, URS may generate a Licensing Restored message.
Take this URS behavior and the fact that agents cannot manually give up
licenses into account when determining the number of required licenses. This
recommendation especially applies to sites that have many shift changes where
new agents log in while the previously working agents have not yet logged out.
I’m getting a little confused here about the the question being asked. I guess it is the above quote?
If this is the case then the maintenance\support cost is set as a fixed percentage of the total license costs not upon what is actually being used. So if you have licenses for 18 seats then the support cost is based on what you’ve already paid not on the 1 - 2 URS seats you want to use.
You are right but If you buy a car with 2 spare wheels which you did not want, you will try to dispute…
I do simply my job which consists in making a technical state on what is used or not in the bought licences for this customer. What it occurs then does not concern me any more…
I have just had confirmation from Alcatel Support that in this precise case, only one router_seats license is enough for URS to be able to make routing on several pilots.
Tests have been made with a license file with only one router_seats license…
You need CIM + Voice Inbound for every place used by the agents. It doesn’t matter you don’t URS to route the interactions to the agents. URS is involved in the routing process (segmentation, attached data) so you need CIM. Having CIM means you have to buy at least on interaction license per seat. It isn’t possible (not talking about some non-standard agreement between your customer and Genesys) to buy CIM without an interaction license (Inbound Voice, Email etc.).
I would suggest you to contact your Genesys Sales Representative and try to find some “optimal” solution for your customer.
Thank you René, Cav and Wyn for your comments and helps.
router_seats licenses was the only point not clear, the customer also uses “Gplus Adapter for Siebel CRM”, tserver_sdn, tserver_tdn, etc for the exact number of agents in production.
