Recording retention policy — calls older than 90 days being deleted unexpectedly

Pro tip! :file_folder: Always double-check your recording retention policy BEFORE you lose recordings!

Go to Admin > Quality > Recording Retention. The default policy may be set to delete recordings after 30 days. If you assumed the default was ‘keep forever’, you might be in for a nasty surprise! Set it to your compliance requirement immediately! :locked:

If you are using Agent Assist with real-time transcription, the transcription data has a SEPARATE retention policy from the audio recording.

We configured our audio recordings to retain for 7 years, but the AI transcription data defaulted to 90 days. After 90 days, the transcription was deleted even though the audio still existed. We lost the ability to search by keyword for thousands of historical interactions.

Wait, my recordings are being deleted?! I never configured any retention policy!

I just assumed everything was kept forever. How do I check if I’ve already lost recordings? Is there a way to recover them, or are they gone permanently?
