I am planning to setup a new Genesys environment, so just exploring the possiblities of open Source Db support for Genesys.
I just wanted to check if Genesys support Berkeley DB (Sleepycat/Oracle).
Also, does any Genesys support any free db like MySQL.
PLease let me know your inputs.
Any help in this regard, will be highly appreciated.

According to the Supported Operating Environment doc (80g_ref_soe_04-2009_v8.0.001.0), the supported databases are -
• DB2 7.0
• MS SQL 7.0
• Oracle 8.1
• Informix 7.3 1
• Sybase 12.0

I should have said that the versions given are the oldest supported versions.
As Berkeley is a version of Oracle it might work, but I wouldn’t recommend it in a production environment.
However as it doesn’t “provide support for network access and it does not support SQL or any other query language, nor does it support table schemas or table columns”. I really see how it would, config server for example interacts with the database via SQL, as do the other applications with database access.

Berkeley DB is not supported. It might work but you won’t get support for such deployment. Genesys doesn’t support any open source database like MySQL, PostgeSQL etc. I would say that customer buying Genesys software should be able to buy commercial database engine as well…
To Steve’s note - database systems listed in his post are the oldest versions supported by subset of Genesys components only (Framework, Routing, CCAnalyzer, CCon). Other components release 7/8 don’t support these.
