I was wondering if anyone is interested in developing a webased softphone? Genesys already has JavaSoftPhone source code offered with products, so how hard would it be to modify it and use it via the browser? I think it would be a really great idea if we could use a browser for the softphone, because it would allow for really easy maintenace, upgrades and other related issues. Plus, getting the whole softphone to run aon a clientside, I think we can get rid of the latency problems usually assosiciated with webased products.
We have already developed a product that is very tightly integrated with Genesys CME called I/View Browser based. We have added in a few other goodies on top of the softphone functionality such as knowledge presentation.
We have the ability to demo this remotely in a Genesys / Nortel environment… if you are interested?
