Hi, I try to Upgrade SpeechMiner (to version 8.5.5)
I follow this document https://enu.docs.genesys.com/Documentation/SPMI/8.5.5/Upgrade/anyto85510 to do that.
(I followed the requirement and the procedure.)
But when I run (As Admin) SMUprade.exe, After I answered the first question " you are sure you want to continue" by yes
I get an error on my log:
Error: An error occured before the DB was changed: Failed to initialize DB Master.
SMUpgrade.UpgradeFailedException: Failed to initialize DB Master. ----> System.Exception: Could not connect to the DB
My userId is already “sa”
Could anyone help me please.

There are some DB scripts Genesys must provide.
SM is always tricky. Open an eSR tell them from which to what version you are upgrading, if using ES or Lucene and then they will tell you the proper steps and scripts.
SA doesn’t guarantee connection tho, open an ODBC panel and try connection from there

Before I do anything, I forgot to mention that the machine where there is the SM and the one where there is the database are two different servers.
So are there other config that I need to check in such a situation.

Try the ODBC test first.
The error you may be getting is also possible if DB was not upgraded yet, for which you may need some scripts.
Which is your current version?
Are you using already ES?

I tried to do the ODBC test but I failed, so I decided to abandon the Upgrade to 8.5.512 but install the current version 8.5.509
There was no error on configuration, but when I try to launch the web http://localhost/speechminer, I get a “Runtime Error”

Is there something I was missing on web.config or on configuration?

Hard to tell without logs or knowing what you did, but I would re-configure my WAS in SMConfig.
