Schedule publication failing - intermittent 400s on /api/v2/workforce-management/schedules/publish

Hey all,

So schedule publication’s acting up. We’re running around 1200 agents and this is a pain - it’s not consistent. The API call to publish schedules is returning a 400 Bad Request roughly 1 in 10 times. Not 100% sure but it feels like it’s related to schedule overlaps - specifically secondary shifts.

The payload’s the same every time, we’re passing a list of schedule IDs. The error response isn’t super helpful. It’s just a generic “bad request” and the errors array is empty. We’ve checked for obvious issues like invalid schedule IDs and agents not assigned to schedules. It’s just… intermittent.

The SDK version we’re using is 6.1.0. The logs show this:

{
 "status": 400,
 "code": "bad_request",
 "message": "Bad Request",
 "errors": []
}

It’s weird because the schedule validation process returns a 200 for the same schedules before we attempt to publish them. It’s driving us nuts. Anyone else seeing this? We’ve tried retries with exponential backoff, but it just delays the inevitable.

  • That 400 on publish is rough. We’ve seen similar - it’s almost always the validation rules getting tripped up, especially with those secondary shifts.
  • Have you tried breaking the publish into smaller batches? We found that helps avoid timeouts and weird validation errors.
  • Are you passing the omitEmptyShifts parameter? Might be a small thing, but it’s worth checking.
  • Quick question - is the schedule data coming directly from Genesys, or are you pulling it from somewhere else via API first?

Platform SDK for JS - that’s right, smaller batches help. We set schedulePublishBatchSize to 50 and it stabilized things - the validation errors went away.
