Okay, so we’ve got this weird one.
We’re pulling queue metrics - specifically oHandlersAvailable, oCallsInQueue, and oLongestCallInQueue - from the queue metrics endpoint. It’s a SvelteKit server route, using the platformClient SDK - version 3.0.41. The goal is to display current queue status in an internal admin portal. It’s a pretty standard use case, honestly.
The issue is that for the same queue ID - and I mean literally the same request, sent back-to-back - we’re getting differing values. I’ve verified the queue ID is correct. The OAuth token is valid - it doesn’t expire for another hour.
It’s not a rate limit thing. I’ve added a 1-second delay between requests - just to be absolutely SURE - and the inconsistency persists. It looks like the API is returning stale data, but why? The docs say the data is near real-time. +1 to the idea that “near real-time” is a VERY loose term.
Here’s a snippet of the route handler:
import { platformClient } from '$lib/auth';
import { json } from '@sveltejs/kit';
export async function GET({ params }) {
const { queueId } = params;
const client = platformClient();
try {
const response = await client.routing.queueMetrics.getQueueMetrics(queueId);
return json(response);
} catch (error) {
console.error('Error fetching queue metrics:', error);
return json({ error: 'Failed to fetch queue metrics' }, { status: 500 });
}
}
The values shift - sometimes by just one or two - but it’s enough to make the dashboard look glitchy. It’s a REALLY bad UX. It’s not a showstopper, but it’s annoying. From what I’ve seen, it seems like the data isn’t being updated consistently across all Genesys Cloud data centers. It’s… perplexing.
