Warning! The Management Layer does not support cold standby
redundancy type.
What? It would restart an application if it has crashed but it would not restart an application on a different server because the primary one has crashed?
I was under impression that we could do manual switchover even when the servers were in coldstandby!
Unless you license one of the High Availability options from Genesys, your license likely only covers one instance of any particular application. This began in 6.5, I believe.
Manual switchover, yes. Automatic switchover, no. The error message indicated above would be generated BY the management layer based on a user’s attempt to configure a backup application in a cold standby mode (i.e. on another server without HA licensing).
Again, you can do it manually (start a different app when the primary fails - it will take up the appropriate license from License Manager and proceed just fine) but the Management Layer will not allow this to happen automatically. Nor will Genesys support an environment configured in this way.
