migrating genesys framework

Hi,

If I want to migrate genesys framework from one server to another (so changing hardware), what is the best way to do this? The versions of all applications remain the same and the DB stays on the server as it is right now.

Can I use the migration wizard or should I install everything manually. Does anybody have tips or things I should know before starting?

What comes up in my mind is confserv. I thought this name was sort of fixed, so how can I be sure that after the server migration, everything will still work?

Glenn

Is this on UNIX, or Windows?

You have install dbserver and config server, that’s your base.
After that run the install for each app, it’ll prompt you to install new app or select existing app.
Select existing app and that should be it.

It is on windows.

Only the framework should be migrated (and relocated), so the IP address will change. The servers include Framework, Reporting, MCR and WFM.
Telephony has been updated earlier, but I don’t know if this will still work if I move my framework to other servers…

Should stay away from changing IP address. It gets messy. You have to disconnect all the connections.
What I do is, build up server, bring down old server and bring in new server with same IP.
Then install dbserver and config server, connect to your db engine.
Then install whatever you need.

well, the problem that I cannot take the decision to do that. I just follow instructions and I doubt that the decision makers know what it means if I need to change everything.

It looks messy to me too, that’s why I wanted to know if somebody here had done the same and how to deal with it…
