Loading a routing strategy on an Extension

Has anybody heard of loading a routing strategy on an extension on a Nortel Succession PBX. This was proposed to me as a solution and I don’t believe it is possible.

Would love to hear details if it is possible.

??? On an extension? That is impossible. I believe on Nortel objects (Routing Point) are called CDN. You can read Nortel TServer documentation to have more idea of this.

Hi,

I know it’s possible to load strategy on an extension with Avaya TServer but I’ve never tried it. Here are the steps how to do it:

  1. Change URS option “event_arrive” to “routerequest, ringing”
  2. IRD doesn’t support loading strategy on extension - it’s necessary to “load” it manually using CME
    • create section “urs” in the annex-tab of the extension
    • create a new key “strategy” with value corresponding to the name of existing strategy
  3. Try it.

Update: I’m pretty sure it isn’t supported by Genesys so be very careful using this “feature” in the production…

And why would i like to load an strategy on an extension? What can i win with this?

Hey Brent, i concur with Rene. I think it’s possible on a Nortel as well as Avaya. I think there’s a documented example in one of the Genesys Routing PDFs.

At a high level, assuming you have a developed strategy you want to load on an extension(assuming you’re routing to ext).

In the annex tab of the extension, create a section called ‘URS’.
Under the ‘URS’ section, create a key called ‘event_arrive’ with a value of ‘some event’. Also create another key called ‘strategy’ with a value of ‘YOUR STRATEGY NAME’

Cavagnaro - If you don’t have softphone functionalities, then essentially you can load a strategy to either autoanswer a call or return it a queue if no one picks up.

Hum interesting, however i can't imagine a Genesys without a softphone...even without it the PBX functionalities should work for the auto answer and the return to the queue managed by the URS or TServer.

Well, if it is extension/station on the PBX, then you create it as a route point in Genesys. That will work for sure. However, this is good for 6.5 version TServer only.
And also if you do that with 7.x TServer, you may want to forceRoute the call to that RoutePOint instead of doing TRoute function…
