Latest google Analytics

Google Analytics are really fun tool, especially when you know how to use them!

I have installed Analytics less than a week ago, and here is the latest snapshot of the traffic to the site. It is amazing to see more than 100 people accessing the site per day.

Over 36% of people are new visitors, meaning that even after a week, and more than 500 visits, a large portion of the people are still coming in here for the first time. I am simple amazed!

Location-wise it is pretty much all over the map. I thought I saw more dots from Russia a few days back, but now, it is no longer there. I wonder if some of the dots are removed because they are too small.

Also, it seems like modifications to the main page drastically reduced the number of people leaving without actually looking into the forum. Adding the index of forums with number of posts right at the top has reduced the “bounce rate” from over 30% to under 15%. If I only knew how to make it look prettier, I think we could lower it even more.

Many of you have asked me whether or not Genesys is helping me with this site. The answer is “no”. this site is not affiliated and/or supported by Genesys Labs and/or Alcatel. Interestingly enough, even though they are not helping, they are visiting this site daily. I really would like to see Genesyslabs people to start answering some of the user questions here too in their spare time. I would be more than happy to distinguish to add an automatic disclaimer to all of their posts.

Overall, it seems like we are on a way to shatter another monthly record, and I cannot be more ecstatic about it. Afterall, the more people join and participate, the easier all of our lives would be!

I’m on a GVP training here on San Francisco and gave the URL ;D
Hopefuly the trainer will like it and spread it Also wrote it on the board so anothers can see it.
He showed me the devzone of Genesys but this one goes ahead from far.
Also linked the forum on a very visited Alcatel forum and on all my visits on training i’m giving both sites, Alcatel forum and Genesys forum.
From Alcatel one i know it’s being visited by more friends, i guess this too

Thank you for the heads up on sggu.com. I have never realized how ugly it was, because by defrault I go directly to sggu.com/smf ! I have modified it so that typing sggu.com takes it directly to the forum. (I am still learning the ropes, so, I am using cPanel Redirect… I wonder if there is something better and more robust!)

I think that if everyone who goes to training would mention this site, it would be enough to make the server puff smoke!

There is an inherent problem with Genesys devzone and other support sites and it has to do with the fact that Genesys is charging users for support. Offering the same support for free would put their current business model in jeopardy. As for devzone, I think that given the fact that they have Professional Services, I doubt they would be offering the same level of support regarding development as they would with their PS. It seems to be that devzone was developed as a PR move to promote use of Genesys SDK and user acceptance that it is no longer free.

Needless to say, I doubt that it would be in their interests to discuss other technolgies and competing products out there.

In all fairness, Genesys is doing a great job working with many platforms and supporting its users and there is no question about it. The reason why I am still using them as opposed to Aspect, Cisco or Avaya is simply their superior technical support and understanding. But, at the same time, considering that most of their re-occuring revenues come from support fees, there is a limit as to how much they can offer for free without having users demanding for a multi-tier fee structure for support, such as: upgrades only, q&a regarding potential problems with operation, development-related questions, reporting-related questions, catastrophic/emergency support, etc.

Right now, I am only aware of 15% and 24% percent of total purchase cost tiers for 9-6 and 24 hour support respectively, out of which Genesys vendor takes a bit less than a half. Having seen different sorts of vendors where some just throw all the questions to Genesys and others actually doing their homework and using Genesys as a second-tier support, it is natural to assume that some vendors are demanding that they pay a lesser share based on their level of involvement.

So, I think Genesys is quite aware that an active user forum on their own site supported by their own engineers will cause a lot of headache to the sales people and this is a main reason why they never head it until our forum took off and starting making an impact. I still would love to see more of Genesys people participating in supporting some of the questions here, since after all, we are making their lives easier as well.

Please tell me if there is anything else that you think we should modify!!!

P.S. Some of our people are installing GVP and man… it is like IR and Strategy Builder and Strategy loader in G5.1.5!!! Way too cryptic and poorly integrated. What is your impression with it so far?

..You might have noticed an email floatng around your Inbox recently; I hadn’t publicized my Y! Group in a while and I picked up quite a few new members by sending out a simple note - about 15 in 3-4 days, which is quite a few when I normally only get the odd request every week or so.

You might then find that quite a few people have returned to “have a look” and remind themselves we are indeed still here!

Well yeah, integration is still very poor, and GVP is completely a different software, the URS integration is too basic. But now that Voice Genie and GVP are going to merge i’ll like to see what is in there.
Oh, GVP 7.5 is no longer monitored by SCI… ??? Actually no real use as nothing can be seen on there, only if process was running.
However GVP itself is really cool. IBM people also in classroom is using it as main platform.

Interesting how we still continue to have 3X % of new users… Cavagnaro, I am really curious where exactly you are writing it - definitely not only in your own classroom, right? Well, I have to warn you that graffitti in US is illegal.

Also, thank you for the suggestion regarding the redirect. You are right. I think it played a big role in continuing to reducing our entrance bounce rate to under 10%:

There are sooo many things to learn!!! I still have no clue how to plot bounce rate over the period of last week. It is supposed to be intuitive, but I guess Genesys made all of us think way out of the box to the point where there nothing absolutely intuitive anymore. I think I need some professional psychiatric help!

Tony: I know what you mean, but I really would not want to start sending people an email without making sure that it is like yours - has enough content and meaning to actually be useful. Maybe you can help me put together something?

let’s wait a few months. I think given the current rate of hits, we are doing just fine. We should definitely focus more on getting the sample products our using t-lib and ActiveX.

Actually there are smaaaaaaaal Genesys Forums around there, everytime i found one i post a link to here.
Also IBM people has get this to their Genesys team so maybe they are accessing also.

I wonde rif there is a way to have an realtime picture of google-analytics for this site embedded into here. I think it would be fun

You can do an IFRAME which contents the webpage of google or the image that is generated dynamically and then a jscrispt that will reload it every 30 seconds or X time. Should be so hard to do.

That won’t work as to view google analytics, you need to be logged into your account. I suspect you would need to use the google api suite to try and rig something up.
