GVP Separated Networks for voice and signalling

p56 of GVP deployment guide for 7.6 version, I read :

Genesys strongly recommends that all IP Communication Server (IPCS) hosts have two Network Interface Cards (NICs). This enables the call audio (Session Initiation Protocol [SIP]/Real-time Transport Protocol [RTP]) data to be sent to a separate network that is optimized to efficiently transfer SIP/RTP data to Media Gateways

Great but where to configure the 2 different IPs, especially the one dedicated to RTP traffic?

Note that I use GVP IP without any integration with SIP Server

This can be easily done by using multiple network interfaces.

Is it a high traffic site ?

?? You will have network segment 10.10.10.0 for data and 10.12.12.0 for RTP. When OS searched a party with IP (on GVP configuration where you told him the TTS motor is) will not look obviously on network 10.10.10.0 and will go to network card with 10.12.12.0.

Cavagnaro is correct. We’re running 4 NICs on most our of our GVP servers; it’s a blast trying to manage during upgrades. The Genesys wizards don’t work, so nearly everything but database ETL is manual. All due to breaking it out for management, data, voice/RTP. PCI compliance and every other data security regulation under the sun.

Hi all.

Sorry but I still do not understand where to do the configuration of IP Addresses.

At PopGateway level, I have the 2 following parameters :

  • Local IP Address to set IP Address used for Sip Messages
  • Media Server address : I suppose this is the IP used for http interprocess communication between PopGateway and McuXml.

So I still do not understand where I have to set rtp ip address, the one that will be written in SDP answer from GVP

Unless it is something done at operating system level?
