Data Action - Unexpected 400 Error on Historical Data Export

Hi all,

We’re building a data export solution for a client with a pretty substantial Genesys Cloud org - over 5000 users. They want a nightly export of historical interaction data, specifically call detail records, using the Data Actions framework. It’s a common request, we’ve done this dozens of times, but this one’s acting strangely.

The Data Action itself is fairly straightforward. It’s hitting the POST /api/v2/analytics/reporting/exports endpoint with a date range parameter - currently set to the last 24 hours for testing. We’re using the Node SDK v8.5.1 and have confirmed authentication is working correctly; the initial request goes through without issue. However, consistently, the call comes back with a 400 Bad Request. The response body is unhelpful - it just says “Invalid request”.

I’ve seen a few posts in the community about similar issues with the historical data API, specifically around date formatting and potential rate limits. We’re sending the dates in ISO 8601 format (e.g., “2024-02-29T00:00:00.000Z”). We’ve also implemented exponential backoff, just in case, but it doesn’t seem to help. The client’s support team says they aren’t seeing any reported API issues.

The really odd thing is that smaller orgs don’t experience this. It seems like the sheer volume of data being requested - even for just 24 hours - might be pushing against some hidden limit. We’ve tried breaking the request into smaller chunks by date, but that just results in 400s for every chunk. I’m wondering if there’s something specific about large organizations that affects how the Historical API behaves. Just a hunch, but it’s worth checking.

Here’s a sample request body:
