Audit Log Retention Policy Conflict in EU-West Region for Compliance Dashboard

Hi all,

We are currently finalizing our compliance reporting framework for the upcoming audit cycle and have encountered a discrepancy in the Audit Log retention settings within our EU-West tenant. As a performance dashboard power user, I rely on these logs to correlate agent actions with conversation outcomes, particularly for high-value interactions handled by our specialized queues.

The business requirement is to retain detailed audit logs for a minimum of 7 years to satisfy regulatory standards. However, when navigating to the Administration > Security > Audit Logs section, the maximum configurable retention period appears to be capped at 12 months. Attempts to manually override this via the interface result in a validation error: “Retention period exceeds maximum allowed duration for this region.”

I have verified that our tenant subscription includes the Advanced Security bundle, which documentation suggests should support extended retention. Furthermore, our previous discussion regarding BYOC edge deployments indicates that data residency constraints might be influencing this behavior, but we are not using BYOC for this specific tenant.

Can anyone clarify if there is a backend configuration or API endpoint that allows for extended retention beyond the UI limit? Alternatively, is there a recommended workaround to archive these logs to an external S3 bucket while maintaining the integrity of the reference IDs needed for our performance dashboards? We need a solution that does not require extensive developer resources, as our team is focused on flow architecture and monitoring.

Environment:

  • Region: EU-West
  • Subscription: Enterprise Plus with Advanced Security
  • Browser: Chrome 120.0.6099.130

Any insights would be appreciated.
